Two youths from the neighbouring Sindhudurg district in Maharashtra and Dhanbad in Jharkhand were arrested for allegedly peddling drugs, in separate raids conducted by the Goa Crime Branch.
In the first raid held near a packed restaurant in Pernem, the raiding team arrested Nasir Husain, 23 for allegedly possessing Ganja, weighing 2.50 kg and valued at Rs 2.05 lakh. The Sindhudurg youth is believed to have travelled to Goa to especially peddle drugs to his prospective customers in the tourist belt, CB SP Nidhin Valsan said.
In the following raid at Banastari Junction, 24-year-old Sukesh Kumar was caught in possession of “greenish colour flowering and fruiting tops of a plant” suspected to be Ganja. Valsan said the Jharkhand-based youth, residing in Betim, was carrying a black coloured shoulder bag that contained the contraband wrapped in a transparent polythene bag which was meant to deliver to his prospective customers. The plant weighed 1.100 kg, valued at Rs 1.10 lakh.
