Cross desecration video going viral not recent, clarify police

MARGAO

Maina-Curtorim police on Tuesday has clarified that the video showing a couple of youth damaging a cross is not a recent one, but an old video that had gone viral over two years ago.

Maina-Curtorim police, however, did not take chances, more so after it received a complaint from a group of citizens, including Vinayak Volvoikar, alleging that some boys were involved in causing damage to the cross.

Maina-Curtorim Police Station in-charge, PI Ravi Dessai informed that the police called the boys to the police station for an inquiry and were interrogated in front of a priest and a representative of an NGO since the boys were minor in age.

PI Ravi informed that further visit to the site showed that the video that has gone viral was not a recent one since one can see the changes at the spot.

Meanwhile, Davorlim Sarpanch Herculean Niasso informed that he has been told by the Maina-Curtorim police that the video that has gone viral is not a recent one and appealed to the people to maintain peace and amity.
