In a swift operation, the Cuncolim police rescued a minor girl who was kidnapped from its jurisdiction and arrested the accused while attempting to flee with the victim by train in Maharashtra.
Cuncolim Police Station in-charge PI Tukaram Chawan informed that after receiving a complaint that a minor girl has been kidnapped from the jurisdiction, intelligence gathered by the police revealed that the accused person, Arjun Godbole, aged 24 years, a native of Gadhag-Karnataka has kidnapped the minor girl from Cuncolim and fled away from Goa by train.
“PSI Mahesh Naik, who was collecting intelligence and maintaining watch on the activities of the accused person through informers found that the accused is travelling by train towards Nagpur along with the kidnapped minor girl,” he said.
Accordingly, under the supervision of SP South Abhishek Dhaniya IPS, SDPO Margao Shivendu Bhushan IPS and Cuncolim PI Tukaram Chavan, a team was constituted headed by LPSI Kavita Rawat, HC Vinod Kankonkar, PC Adarsh Fal Dessai, LPC Neha Pednekar and PC driver Fayaz Shaikh to proceed towards Nagpur.
During further investigations, intelligence revealed that the accused person along with the victim girl will be travelling by Maharashtra Express from Nagpur towards Kolhapur direction on December 4. Accordingly, the duo were apprehended at the Bhusawal Railway junction with the help of RPF personnel and brought to Goa. The accused is presently cooling his heels in the Cuncolim police lock-up.
