SANGUEM
Residents in Sanguem were left without water supply for the last three days. Water supply was restored to some areas on Tuesday while nearby villages like Costi were left without water supply even late in the evening, causing severe hardship to the affected people.
In the absence of water supply, residents in the town were forced to purchase water bottles from the market for drinking purpose, while many were fetching water from the river for domestic use.
In Costi village, some villagers had to travel as far as 3 kms to get drinking water, said informed sources.
While residents were kept in dark over the sudden disruption in water supply, sources in the water supply department informed that the main pipeline supplying drinking water to the town area and other nearby villages got ruptured at Cotarli and it was repaired late Monday evening.
However, the restoration of water supply got delayed as there were some leakages in the pipeline, which were later rectified.
Sources informed that while water supply to Sanguem town was restored on Tuesday, affected areas in Kalay village are likely to get water supply by Wednesday morning.
