Currency notes of Rs 70 lakh seized in Chorla Ghat

Income Tax officials jointly with Valpoi Police seized currency notes of Rs 70 lakh at Chorla Ghat on Wednesday.

According to Bicholim PI Narayan Chimulkar, who is presently holding charge of Valpoi Police station, the currency notes of Rs 70 lakh were being carried from Goa to Karnataka.

PI Chimulkar added that exact information whether the notes were old or new currency was with the Income Tax department, as they conducted the raid on a tip-off by an unidentified person.

He informed that there were four persons from Maharashtra in the car. Presently, only two persons are in the custody of IT department, while the other two fled from the site after the incident,” said PI Chimulkar.
