MARGAO
As thick black smoke billowed out from Sonsodo after the site was engulfed by fire and settled on the adjoining areas of Curtorim, local MLA Reginaldo Lourenco came rushing to Sonsodo to tell the media that even God wants the powers be to take urgent steps and resolve the imbroglio.
Reginaldo wondered whether the bosses controlling the Margao Municipality are serious in tackling Sonsodo, asserting that the people of Curtorim will not take the Sonsodo mess anymore.
He warned that unless everyone comes together to address the recurring fires head on, the fire will one day burn everyone.
“The Waste Management Minister Atanasio Monserrate and Urban Development Minister Vishwajit Rane are come to the site for a joint inspection. We have to put in place a system to address the situation. This is a challenge and we will have to jointly address the matter,” he asserted.
He added: “We cannot waste any time to resolve the issue. Action should be louder than words. I am serious since my people of Curtorim cannot take this anymore. I am not fit to represent my people if I cannot settle the issue. Whatever may be the hardships, I will come to Sonsodo everyday to find out the status.”
Reginaldo challenged his opponents to tell him that he is involved in any corruption in his stint as MLA.
