Curtorim village Panchayat on Wednesday urged the Town and Country Planning Department to carry out a detailed survey on the lines of the 1970 survey. This aim of this exercise is to get a complete picture of the ground realities in the form of developments that have come up during the last 40 years, something which the TCP may be totally unaware of.
In her letter to the Chief Town Planner, Curtorim Sarpanch Rosy Paes pointed out that micro-planning is important as Google Maps indicates a large area under afforestation, but the ground reality is that thousands of habitations have mushroomed under the tree cover, and this cannot be revealed without a proper physical
verification. “Even the panchayat body itself is unaware of such houses, as owners do not come to the village panchayat for construction licences as they can get water and electricity through NOCs issued by the Health Department,” she said.
Referring to the RP-2021 put up for display for comments, suggestions and objections from the public up till January 18, the Sarpanch recalled that when in 2009 Draft RP-2021 was kept open for public inspection, the gram sabha had constituted a Village Level Committee to go into the various aspects of zoning and submitted a revised
draft plan.
“This revised draft plan was sent to you, but it appears that none of the recommendations made in this draft plan were considered; in fact it was not considered at all,” she said, while requesting TCP to consider whatever valuable suggestions have been made in that plan.
The Sarpanch also sent a copy of the Curtorim Vision 2020 plan formulated by the panchayat body for the consideration of TCP.
