Custom official seize gold worth â‚¹26.40 lakh

Officials of Goa Customs at Goa International Airport seized eight units of ten Tolas of Gold bars worth â‚¹26.40 lakh concealed in the safety airbag pocket of unoccupied seat in an Air India flight AI-994.

Based on the intelligence inputs received, the Air Intelligence Unit rummaged Air India Flight upon its arrival at Goa International Airport, Dabolim and found 928 grams of Gold in two small packets concealed in the safety airbag pocket of unoccupied seat.

The Customs officials questioned one passenger based on suspicion who admitted to the gold smuggle
