With a budget of Rs 1 crore, expensive cars and bikes as lottery prizes and programmes presented by national artistes, Dabolimcha Raja has become the richest Ganesh Chaturthi pandal in Mormugao.
Speaking to reporters, Chicalim Sarpanch Kamla Prasad Yadav, who is also the founder member of Dabolimcha Raja Seva Samiti, said they have been celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi since 2012.
“We wanted to make it very grand this time because ever since we started this Ganesh celebration here, things have changed significantly for the area. We have seen so much of development in the area and we decided to have Rs 1 crore as the budget for this year’s celebration.”
“We had various programmes, lottery prizes and many events where a large number of people participated and we pray that unity amongst people here continues,” said Yadav.
“The shed cost around Rs 22 lakh to accommodate around 1,000 people and we also had a lottery with five cars and five bikes worth Rs 55 lakh. We also had three huge LED screens arranged from Kolhapur which were on rent for around Rs 5 lakh. We also paid a huge amount to national and international artistes who performed,” said Yadav.
