Not even a month has passed after the newly elected panchayat body took charge of the affairs of the Salvador Do Mundo village panchayat, the ruling group has been facing obstruction vis-Ã -vis the works to be taken up in the village.
Sarpanch, Roshni Savoikar informed that the panchayat secretary has been acting as an obstacle in initiating development works in the village.
She said the Panchayat Secretary Rajesh Gauns holds additional charge as the secretary of Salvador Do Mundo panchayat and was available only for three days in a week in office.
She further said that he refused to cooperate with the panchayat body.
“The panchayat secretary is not ready to enter my cabin and refuses to comply with the official orders of the ruling group. He is also not allowing me and other elected members to inspect the minutes book of the meeting,” Savoikar said.
She further alleged that the secretary has been making claims that he is under pressure from the top not to cooperate with the panchayat body.
In the panchayat elections held last month, an independent group floated by former sarpanch, Rajesh Savoikar stormed to power in Salvador Do Mundo village panchayat, defeating the panel floated by Tourism Minister and local MLA Rohan Khaunte.
“Lots of pressure was put on us and our families to join a certain leader. We all six members stood firmly together because we have the blessings and support of our people of Salvador Do Mundo,” the former sarpanch informed.
Savoikar further informed that after the elections, his group met Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and assured him to work under the BJP-led government for the development of the village.
“We are with the BJP and we want to carry out development in the village. But for some reasons the secretary who is a government servant is not working in the public interest,” he said.
