In a major decision, the gram sabha of the village panchayat of Davorlim on Sunday adopted a resolution to write to the Revenue Secretary to institute Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe into illegalities on comunidade land in the village.
Davorlim Sarpanch Saeish Rajadyax made the announcement after members led by Andrew Rebello raised the issue of what he termed as rampant illegalities on comunidade land.
The sarpanch later told the media that a resolution has been adopted to request the Revenue Secretary to probe into the illegalities on the comunidade land.
Gram sabha member Andrew drew attention of the sarpanch to the violations on comunidade land, saying that structures and buildings have come up on comunidade, including 18K land in violation of the rules in force.
When he demanded to know whether constructions can come up in violation of the rules, the sarpanch replied in the negative.
Meanwhile, after Rebello brought to the notice of the sarpanch that village panchayat should popularise the schemes meant for the Scheduled Tribes, Sarpanch Saiesh said the panchayat has decided to hold programmes at the door steps of the people every month.
He said the panchayat would hold the programme every month in each of the 11 wards by inviting officials of the Social Welfare Department, Health, etc.
