As the Collector’s order on lockdown came into force on Sunday, police made their presence felt on the road in a big way, once again to check the movement of citizens.
One could come across police barricades being erected on the main entry and exit points, with the police trying to question the occupants of the vehicles on their movement.
If sources are to be believed, the police will intensify the nakabandis in their respective jurisdiction to dissuade people from moving on the roads without any valid reason.
With the South Goa Collector, Ruchika Katyal, IAS, order on lockdown issued under section 144 of the Cr PC coming into force on Sunday, Fatorda police led by PI Kapil Nayak set up a barricade near the Holy Spirit square to check the vehicular movement along the busy road.
Policemen and home guards were seen questioning the occupants on their movement and reminding them of the curfew that has come into force in the state.
Senior police officials informed that the police will crack a whip against those violating the Covid safety norms, including social distancing, non-wearing of face masks in public places.
