Where have the evening poders (breadman) disappeared? This was a question asked by Madgavkars on Sunday evening as they could not find them behind the Margao Municipal Council building, their usual place.
The road behind the MMC building, which normally bustles with bread-selling activity, wore a deserted look.
A couple of bread vendors, who had made their presence felt at their normal place of business activity, also left the site, fearing a crackdown by the police.
Many a Madgavkar, who had come to the place with the hope of laying their hand on polle and pao had to go home disappointed.
Citizens were trying to figure out whether the bread selling activity will stop henceforth as per the collector’s order or be allowed with social distancing norms.
