Debate over bodies of Zuari Nagar family not brought to South dist hosp for post-mortem

MARGAO
The death of the family from Zuari Nagar has thrown up a question or two why the bodies were not taken to the South Goa district hospital for post mortem examination.

Sources at the South district hospital informed that dead bodies from the district are brought to the Hospicio/district hospital as a matter of routine procedure. Sources pointed out that it is only in the event the Hospicio mortuary is full and no space to preserve the dead, the bodies are taken to the GMC, Bambolim.

Sources further informed that the issue of space constraints at the district mortuary has now been overcome after the commissioning of the 72-cabinet spacious mortuary in the district hospital. The new mortuary now caters to both Covid and non-Covid bodies, sources said, adding that the district hospital has even reserved four cabinets for the Verna police station to preserve its bodies.
