Congress leaders and workers on Friday made a bonfire of the effigy of the eight Congress turncoats who had defected to the BJP on September 14, 2022.
Addressing the media, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Girish Chodankar said the eight defectors had betrayed the Gods as well as the people of Goa in 2022.
Chodankar took a dig at the Supreme Court judges for not deciding the disqualification petition against the defectors, saying the SC judges did not have the spine to disqualify them.
Taking a dig at the Modi government for its role in effecting defections over the last 15 years, the GPCC chief said that 330 MLAs and a number of MPs had defected to the BJP in the last decade and a half.
“We only hope that a judge with a spine will assume office and give a verdict against the defectors and stop defections across the country,” he added.
