"It was discussed in 2013 that Goa Sadans should be built in Shirdi and Velankanni so that Goans get staying facility at a very low price," Lobo said.
The issue was also taken up by other legislators, most notably by Francisco Silveira, who echoed Lobo's demand saying that pilgrims find the prices of hotels very high.
Several other legislators spoke of the Goa Sadan at Vashi in Navi Mumbai which is yet to take off.
In his reply, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar promised to look into the issue of Goa Sadan at Vashi as well as has promised to examine the idea of bringing down the Goa Sadan along Amrita Shergill Marg in Lodhi Estate of New Delhi and build a new building in the area.
He said that maintenance of the building was becoming a problem given how old it is.
Demand for Goa Sadans raised in House
Calangute legislator Michael Lobo has reminded his government of the need to take forward the proposals to construct Goa Sadans at places like Velankanni and Shirdi saying that it is nearly five years since he had first raised the issue in the assembly.
