Dengue raised its ugly head in the Panzorconne area of Cuncolim Municipal Council, even as the Balli Primary Health Centre moved in to undertake precautionary measures.
While locals claimed that as many six persons were admitted in hospitals with dengue, the Balli Primary Health Centre has said that only four cases had come to the notice of the health officials.
Officials at the Balli PHC pointed out that one of the victims had a travel history, indicating that he might have been infected at the time of his travel. Taking strong cognizance of the situation, the Balli PHC conducted an exercise in the locality by taking up fogging operation. An official, however, pointed out that they have not come across any mosquito breeding sites.
As a precautionary measure, however, the Balli PHC has now called for an awareness programme.
