MARGAO
The Goa Forward party scored some brownie points against the BJP over the launching of developmental works in the city.
If the ruling party ward councillors launched the developmental works in Margao at the hands of Congress-turned-BJP MLA Digambar Kamat, the Goa Forward councillors invited the party backed councillors, Independent councillor Ganashyam Shirodkar and locals to do the honours.
At the launching of the works in Ward No. 1 represented by Goa Forward councillor Francis Joanes, all the party-backed councillors were present at the site along with Ganashyam Shirodkar.
Shirodkar said the decision to invite the City Fathers instead of the MLAs is a good initiative by the Goa Forward councillor Francis Joanes, reminding that the ongoing works are being carried out with municipal funding.
Outgoing MMC Chairperson Lyndon Pereira informed that all the developmental works being launched in the city were proposed to the government during his tenure. He has expressed satisfaction that the works are being finally executed in all the wards.
Ward councillor Joanes informed that developmental works to the tune of Rs 18 lakh is being taken up in Madel and Mungul. He said drains will be constructed on both sides of the road which will help in drainage of water.
