Dicarpale riot: Accused remanded to 3 days police custody

Accused Avinash Gunjekar, who was arrested by the Maina-Curtorim police in connection with the attack on footballer Jason Vales at Dicarpale, has been remanded to three days police custody.

Of the five persons arrested for rioting, the court has released three persons, while remanding Moshin and Prashant Naik to three days judicial custody.
Meanwhile, relatives and friends of the Gunjekars, who were seen outside the Maina-Curtorim police station on Wednesday, informed that the police have not arrested the accused who were involved in stoning the house and restaurant of the Gunjekars on Monday night. They claimed though they have provided the names of the accused persons, no arrest have been effected till date.
Maina-Curtorim police station in-charge, PI Harish Madkaikar, however, pointed out that the process of arresting the alleged accused is underway. 
“The police has already registered offences against the accused persons. Investigations of the case is still underway,” PI Madkaikar said, adding that those involved 
in the rioting incident will 
be arrested.

Shipyard workers ‘confine’ 80 officers

Tension prevailed at a shipyard in Mormugao late Tuesday evening when about 260 workers allegedly confined around 80 officers in the shipyard premises over non-payment of their salaries.
