MARGAO
Lambasting the BJP government in the State for the administrative paralysis for over a year for want of a captain and a vice-captain, former Chief Minister Digambar Kamat urged Madgavkars to question the BJP candidate for the South Goa seat as well as the karyakartas why the government failed to commission the South Goa district hospital till date.
Congress South Goa candidate Francisco Sardinha said the secular fabric of the country is in danger and has appealed to the people to bring back the Congress government to restore the credibility of the institutions.
Addressing a public meeting at Sirvodem in Margao Assembly segment on Monday evening, Kamat said that God did not like the way the BJP went about splitting the Congress party to cobble up the numbers. “God had to intervene to give level playing field after the BJP took away two Congress MLAs. And, God would act as its deemed fit with the BJP again splitting the MGP to acquire the numbers,” he added.
Accusing the BJP government for meting out harassment to him on trumped up charges, Kamat said the government failed to put him behind bars since the almighty and the people were solidly behind him.
In his address, candidate Francisco Sardinha said that the Narendra Modi government does not deserve a second term for mismanaging the economy and rendering thousands of people jobless because of demonetisation and GST.
He said the BJP government did not accord priority for the Zuari bridge, saying while the government went for a third bridge over Mandovi, Zuari bridge is taken up for construction only recently.
