Two day before takes voluntary retirement from government service, Director of Municipal Administration Gurudas Pilarnekar on Monday said that it’s not because of pressure that he has opted for voluntary retirement.
Pilarnekar becomes the second Director of Municipal Administration after Elvis Gomes to opt for voluntary retirement.
Saying he will pursue literature after his retirement, Pilarnekar, however, said he is ready to accept any assignment if the government offers to him in the future.
The Director of Municipal Administration was honoured at a function organized by Margao Municipal Council on Monday evening in the presence of MLAs Digambar Kamat and Vijai Sardesai, besides Navelim MLA Ulhas Tuemkar, Margao Civic Chief Damu Shirodkar in the presence of some of the Municipal Chairpersons from South Goa.
Pilarnekar was later felicitated at the Cuncolim Municipal Council headed by Chairperson Landry Mascarenhas.
MLAs Digambar, Vijai and Ulhas said Pilarnekar was a people-friendly officer, always ready to help and serve the people.
During his address, the Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai said he does not know why a good officer such as Pilarnekar has opted for voluntary retirement because of pressure.
In his address, however, Pilarnekar said his decision to opt for voluntary retirement is not because of pressure but simply to pursue literature and other activities. He, however, said he would not shy away from taking up responsibilities if offered to him by the government. “I had never worked under pressure. When there contentious issue, I used to consult the MLAs to find a way out, but had never worked under pressure”, he said.
