BICHOLIM
A driver had a lucky escape when a car slid into the Mandovi river at Sarmanas-Bicholim while alighting from a ferry on Sunday.
According to reports,
the incident took place as the car was reversing from
the ferry.
He lost control of the vehicle due to the slippery and steep ramp and was unable to stop the car from going into the water.
The car slid into the river and the engine bay was completely submerged.
The driver, however, managed to escape to safety.
A fire brigade later went to the site and pulled out the car.
The locals, including local panch, Anil Naik, have requested authorities to lower the incline of the ramp to facilitate safer and easier entry and exit of vehicles.
