In a major drug raid on a house at Ximer-Candolim, Calangute police on Tuesday seized drugs worth Rs 3 crore from a Nigerian national.
In a press conference held at Porvorim, Superintendent of Police (North) Utkrisht Prasoon said the raid was conducted based on information from reliable sources.
He said the Nigerian national, Ifeanyi Pascol Obi, 34, was caught with the drugs in the house based at Candolim. He was residing in room No 110 on the first floor of house, he added.
“Police seized from him 1.021 kg of cocaine, around 2.035 kgs MDMA, around 760 grams amphetamine, around 106 grams charas and 1.270 kg ganja and cash of Rs 2 lakh. The market price of drugs seized is around Rs.3 crores,” SP Prasoon informed.
He mentioned further that the said accused was arrested by Calangute police in 2011 for overstaying and in 2012 for possessing drugs. The trial against him is still going on in the court, he added.
He said this was the first time that the Goa Police have made a big seizure of drugs.
He said Ifeanyi has arrested under sections 21(c ), 22(c), 20(b)(ii)(B) and 20(b) ( A) of NDPS Act.
Further investigations are in progress.
