Sanguem

Given the failure of the office of Deputy Collector Sanguem to submit an action taken report on the complaint lodged by two individuals from Sanguem, Deputy Collector (Rev) South T. S. Maddimani has sent a reminder letter dated 03.02.2020 to take immediate action in the matter and submit action taken report at the earliest.

The Deputy Collector (Rev) South in the reminder letter dated 03.02.2020 has brought to the notice of the Deputy Collector Sanguem the complaint received by his office from the residents of Sanguem Santano Rodrigues and Constancio Mascarenhas for the second time complaining of illegal constructions being carried on government land at Cotarli, Sanguem.

The complainants in their complaint have brought to the fore two illegal constructions which have come up on government land at Sanguem.

However, despite having complained to the panchayat, Mamlatdar and the Office of the Deputy Collector, Sanguem, officials failed to take action in the matter despite having enough proof of the illegal constructions that have come up on government owned land.

Of the two constructions, one has already been completed and is reportedly equipped with modern amenities despite the said construction being located in a remote area.

The complainants have also brought to the fore alleged illegal activities being carried on at the said illegally-constructed houses and wondered why the authorities were not initiating action against persons involved in the illegal activities.

In their complaint addressed to the Collector, South, the complainants alleged that the panchayat and other authorities have received favours from the persons involved in illegal constructions and this basically deters the panchayat and other authorities from initiating any action against the said illegal constructions.

Both constructions are carried on government land which was earlier earmarked for setting up IIT at Sanguem.

However with the shifting of IIT to Guleli in Sattari, the persons are allegedly given a free hand to go ahead with the illegal constructions, complained Rodrigues.

The complainants have threatened to instigate the locals to come forward and construct more illegal houses in the area if the government fails to take any action against the persons involved in the illegal construction of houses on government land.
