Eight arrested in group clashes at Morpirla
MARGAO: Eight persons were arrested and bailed out in a group clash which was reported on late Wednesday evening.
According to Cuncolim police, the incident occurred over a controversy which erupted between two groups at a religious place in Morpirla. Police said the administration officials held meet with the contending groups later to sort out the matter.
The clash led to minor injuries to some five persons.
Police said an offence was registered against 15 persons of which eight were arrested and later bailed out. Cuncolim police said seven suspects are still absconding. The suspects have been booked under Sections 143, 147, 336, 452, 427 and 149 of IPC.
Further investigations are in progress.
