As part of efforts to promote spiritual and regenerative tourism, the Tourism Department held a coordination meeting with temple committees linked to the Ekadasha Teertha Yatra on Monday. The aim is to develop this unique pilgrimage circuit, which connects eleven important temples across Goa.
The meeting discussed an operational plan for the Yatra, which proposes visiting four temples each day and including nearby tourist attractions to offer a complete travel experience.
“Ekadasha Teertha is not just a tourism product, it is a journey of spiritual immersion, local engagement, and cultural preservation. We are grateful to the temple committees for their wholehearted support and valuable inputs, which will help us co-create a meaningful and respectful experience for all visitors,” Tourism Director Kedar Naik said.
The Ekadasha Teertha Yatra includes eleven major temples that reflect Goa’s rich spiritual heritage: Sri Manguesh Temple in Mangeshi, Sri Mahalasa Narayani Temple in Mardol, Mahadev Temple in Tambdi Surla, Sri Saptakoteshwar Temple in Narve, Sri Brahma Temple in Sattari, Sri Shantadurga Temple in Fatorpa, Hari Mandir in Margao, Sri Damodar Temple in Zambaulim, Parashuram Temple in Poinguinim, Sri Mahaganapati Temple in Khandola, and Sri Dattatreya Temple in Sanquelim.
The temple committees stressed the need to prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for visiting tourists. They also suggested that tourist itineraries be carefully planned during temple festivals and Utsavs.
Another concern raised was parking and traffic control, especially when buses and large vehicles bring visitors to the temples.
The committees urged the department to look at site-specific solutions to manage traffic and avoid congestion.
