Goencho Ekvott Convenor Creson Antao has demanded to know from the eight Congress turncoats why they have shut their mouths on the three linear projects after switching sides to the ruling BJP a year ago.
“Amongst the eight turncoats, Congress-turned-BJP MLAs Digambar Kamat, Alexio Sequeira and Sankalp Amonkar had participated in the historic midnight agitation at Chandor three years ago. They all carried candles in their hands as they marched with the people to the railway tracks”, Creson recalled.
He added: “Besides these three MLAs, the remaining turncoats were part of the Congress party whose election manifesto had promised to scrap the three linear projects if the Congress returns back to power. We have heard nothing from these eight MLAs as well as other politicians who had supported the movement against the three linear projects in 2020”.
Besides Digambar Kamat, Alexio Sequeira, Sankalp Amonkar, other Congress leaders who had participated in the Chandor agitation were incumbent Opposition leader Yuri Alemao, MLA Alton D’Costa, AAP MLAs Wenzy Viegas and Cruz Silva, Goa Forward Chief Vijai Sardesai, Independent MLA Reginald Lourenco and others.
