It was an emotional moment for family members of Cardinal Filipe Neri Ferrao as they participated in the Consistory where Pope Francis made their loved one a cardinal of the universal church at St Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City on Saturday.
“I went to meet him last Saturday and he was rushing to Rachol as he had appointments all day till he left. Today, I had just a brief glimpse as I was in the aisle but on both occasions, the positive vibes were emanating. It was a very emotional moment for us,” said Marielou Ferrao, niece of Cardinal Ferrao.
“He always radiates a lot of positive energy and good vibes. On a personal note, I can see the academic brilliance and a keen acumen,” Marielou added.
After the ceremony, family members greeted Cardinal Ferrão and rejoiced in his elevation in the Catholic Church.
