Employee drowns in Calangute hotel pool during owner’s party

MAPUSA
A 39-year-old man hailing from Koppal, Karnataka, drowned in the swimming pool of a private villa in Tiwaiwada, Calangute, in the wee hours of Monday.

According to reports, the incident took place at around 4 am, when Abdul Samad, who was employed at a hotel in Calangute, had been attending the birthday party of his hotel owner's relatives.

The hotel owner had organised a birthday party for his relatives in the private villa, and all hotel employees were invited to the party.

During the party, Abdul jumped into the swimming pool for a swim, and when he did not come out of the pool, some co-workers pulled him out of the water and rushed him to the Candolim Primary Health Centre, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Upon receiving information about the incident, the Calangute police conducted an inquest and sent the body to GMC hospital for an autopsy. Further investigation is being conducted by Calangute Police Sub-Inspector Dinesh Kanolkar.
