Environment Day celebrated at Big Foot
PANAJI: Plant a Tree, Get Air Free - this simple but wise saying was promoted on World Environment Day at the Big Foot in Loutolim, where more than 350 packets of seeds were distributed to guests, tourists and visitors along with 150 cloth bags in an effort to avoid plastic and go green.
The seeds were for fruit-bearing trees like jamun, sour sop, tamarind and flower seeds like marigold, parijat and zinnias. The seeds were presented in eco friendly packets of newspaper with planting and care instructions - Plant a seed for a better cause.
Maendra Alvares, owner of the project said, “While travelling if we come across barren areas we can throw seeds of fruit bearing trees and nature will look after the rest. This will benefit the environment and us greatly. Nature perseveres and gives us; we just have to do our bit.
