Environmental public hearings for the Advalpale-Thivim Mineral Block (V) and Sirigao Mayem Mineral Block (II), both situated in Bicholim, are scheduled to take place on March 15 and March 20, respectively.
The Advalpale-Thivim Mineral Block is under the ownership of Fomento Resources Pvt Ltd, while the Sirigao Mayem Mineral Block belongs to M/s. Salgaocar Shipping Co.Pvt. Ltd.
The Advalpale-Thivim iron ore mining lease, for which a Letter of Intent was issued in July 2023, covers an area of 36.2202 hectares.
M/s. Salgaocar Shipping Co Pvt Ltd has proposed 1.0 MTPA iron ore production from the Sirigao Mayem mineral block, which spans an area of 171.24 hectares.
The Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) will conduct the public hearings to address the concerns of affected individuals. The hearing scheduled for March 15 will be held at Bicholim Gymkhana, Hirabai Zantye Memorial Hall, near Santadurga High School, while the one scheduled for March 20 will take place at Narayan Zantye, Multipurpose Sports Complex, Sarvan.
