Chief Minister Pramod Sawant declared on Tuesday that the ongoing construction of the Link Road connecting Mopa airport to the national highway would be completed by the end of April.
Addressing a gathering at a function in the Mopa International Airport, the chief minister also commended the efforts of the central government in enhancing connectivity across the nation.
He highlighted the progress in infrastructure under the Modi administration, noting that the number of airports in the country has nearly doubled from 74 to 150 within a decade.
Additionally, he pointed out the expansion of metro train services to over 20 cities and the acceleration of national highway construction to 28 km per day from a previous rate of 12 km per day.
Union Minister of State for Ports and Shipping, Shripad Naik, Tourism Minister Rohan Khuante, Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Tanavde and other dignitaries were also present at the event.
Sawant emphasised the increasing preference for air travel among the people and underscored the significance of connecting Goa to smaller cities such as Hubli and Belagavi by air.
He expressed excitement about the launch of a Goa-based airline, considering it a significant advancement for State’s aviation sector.
