The process of erection of beach shacks has begun along Salcete beach belt, a day after the authorities completed the demarcation of the beach belt.
President of Goa Shack Owners Society Cruz Cardozo said the work of erection of the beach shacks has started along the Salcete beach belt from Saturday.
The shack owners, however, kept their fingers crossed over the commencement of the shack business by Dusshera, due to the delay in the demarcation exercise.
“Normally, the shack business used to start before Dusshera, which used to help us to kick-start the new season,” he said, adding that the delay in the demarcation of the beach belt has delayed the erection of the shacks.
Shack operators pointed out that the Dusshera festivities used to provide them with business with families and groups descending in the state to celebrate the festival.
Cardozo further hoped that the government would accede to the demands of the shack owners, including reduction of the fees for the coming season.
