Addressing a news conference in Calangute, Shirodkar said: “If I wanted to show my strength, I would have exhibited it long back, but it was our endeavour to win Calangute seat at any cost, so we worked tirelessly for the party.”
“On my recommendation, the party gave ticket to Michael Lobo, who brought politics into crematorium issue. If he wants to win again, he must forget everything and prepare for the election,” Shirodkar said.
Speaking on the issue of Calangute Hindu crematorium and beautification of Shantadurga temple premises, Shirodkar said: “People of Calangute are with BJP and no body can divide us on these issues. Encroachments in buffer area at the crematorium must be removed and the process
is going on.”
“Tourism Development Corporation sanctioned Rs 50 crore for development of Shantadurga temple and Tito junction. Lobo is trying to hinder this work,” alleged Shirodkar.
Premanand Divkar, Sameer Morajkar, Sangem Divekar and other BJP workers were present for the news conference.
It may be recalled that Candolim Panch Dharmendra Kandolkar was elected as president of BJP Calangute Block, following the removal of Gurudas Shirodkar.
