Porvorim police on Thursday filed a 300-page chargesheet against former minister Deepak Pauskar and four others for displaying placards and shouting slogans during the last legislative assembly session.

The incident took place on March 6 at around 11.30 am, when four persons — Apa Naik, Upendra Naik, Umesh Naik and Hemant Bhandari — raised slogans and displayed placards from the visitors’ gallery in the Assembly, opposing the proposed Mirabag bandhara at Sanvordem.

The four protesters were later removed from the gallery by Assembly security staff and were subsequently arrested by Porvorim police.

During the investigation, police found that Deepak Pauskar had arranged Assembly entry passes for the four accused through Fatorda MLA Vijay Sardesai. Pauskar was therefore named as a suspect in the case.

At the insistence of Speaker Ganesh Gaonkar, Sardesai later publicly apologised to the House.

On Thursday morning, the chargesheet was submitted in the Mapusa First Class Court along with statements from 21 witnesses.

The investigation was carried out by PSI Mandar Parab under the guidance of then Police Inspector Rahul Parab. Further investigation is continuing under Porvorim Police Inspector Tukaram Chavan.
