Extend deadline for Griha Aadhar income certificates: MLA

MARGAO
Congress MLA Reginaldo Lourenco has alleged that fresh applicants as well as existing beneficiaries of Griha Aadhar Scheme are meted out harassment in the time of Covid-19 pandemic.

He demanded that the Women and Child Development Department extend the deadline from the present October 31 to November 30, 2020, for collecting income certificates from the panchayats and municipalities.

Secondly, he pointed out that the notification for collecting income certificates has to be sent to the municipalities and VPs so that these local bodies are made aware of recent changes.

“For the past four months, I have been requesting through letters to the government to stop sending messages to the fresh applicants of Griha Aadhar scheme for submitting fresh income certificates from the mamlatdar office till the end of this pandemic. To make matters worse, both the existing beneficiaries and fresh applicants are being taken for a ride. They are visiting mamlatdar offices from where they being turned back and told to collect income certificates from the municipalities and panchayats,” he said.
