Cyber crime police station on Friday registered an offence against an unknown person for duping one woman, a resident of Perseraulim, of Rs 6 lakh by using a Facebook profile in the name of Steve G Jones.
According to the complaint filed by Macklin De Souza, an unknown person with a Facebook profile named Steve G Jones duped her of Rs 6 lakh under the pretext of sending gifts.
The accused asked the complainant to deposit this amount in various bank accounts.
Cyber Crime police have registered the complaint under Section 66 D of The Information Technology Act, 2000 for cheating the complainant by personation through using computer resource. PI Rajesh Job is investigating the matter.
