Cortalim MLA Anton Vas on Monday said beaches in Cortalim constituency would soon get a facelift to attract more visitors, while enhanced measures would also be in place to ensure the safety and security of visitors.

Speaking to reporters, Vas said he had placed many development projects along the coastal belt in Cortalim constituency before Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte.

"There was a meeting of all coastal MLAs with Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte at Paryatan Bhavan on steps needed to boost tourism activities in the State. We have beautiful beaches like Hollant, Velsao, Arossim and Cansaulim, besides a very potential tourism spot at Kesarval Spring.”

“I discussed in detail many of the issues faced at these beaches and the minister has assured to resolve them besides taking up development projects along these places. I have requested for Tourism Police patrolling at Velsao and Cansaulim beaches and development of changing rooms and toilet facilities at Velsao beach.”

“I have also asked for more illumination at Velsao beach in view of murders reported at the secluded stretch of Dando on this beach. I also discussed steps to be taken to prevent sand erosion at Velsao and Cansaulim beaches, besides a detailed discussion on beach-cleaning contracts."

The MLA said he had also raised the rejuvenation and beautification of Kesarval Spring, besides erection of High Masts at Kesarval and beaches in his constituency.

“The minister has assured of all support to address my requests and we will soon see a total facelift of all tourism places in Cortalim constituency," said Vas.
