Fake birth certificates: more can of worms open

The fake birth certificate episode has virtually opened a can of worms with the ongoing investigations revealing that the Margao Municipal Council had registered not just the birth of Renuka Tehsildar on December 2, 2015, but also of another party upon court orders when the civic body had not issued any non-availability certificate to the court.

That s not all. Municipal officials have now rtold the investigating agency that the regular staff in the births and rdeaths section were not at all involved in the data feeding of the freshr birth registration of Renuka and another party, raising questions how remployees other than those working in the section had access to the rpassword.The Goan understands that the MMC had not only registered rRenuka s birth, but that of another person upon orders of the JMFC when rneither of the two had applied for non-availability certificate. rMeanwhile, MMC CO Y B Tawde has directed administration-cum-accounts rofficer Damodar Elekar to investigate into the episode and submit a rreport within three days.

Raikar s mother, wife get bail

The mother and wife of Kamaxi Forex owner accused Nilesh Raikar were on Tuesday were released on bail by the Judicial Magistrate First Class.

MARGAO:   They had to furnish bail bond of Rs 50,000 each and two identical rsureties. The two have been asked to report to the EOC for the purpose rof investigations with a further direction to deposit their passports. rAdv Rajiv Gomes, who appeared for the applicants, said the court rdirected the duo not to tamper with evidence.
