The traditional Fama of the Infant Jesus was celebrated at Colva on Monday with religious fervour, but bereft of the usual pomp and gaiety due to the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic.
Parish Priest of Our Lady of Merces Church, Colva, Fr Simpliciano Fernandes, brought down the miraculous statue of Menino Jesus from the High Altar after the High Mass.
The High Mass took place in the Church by observing social distancing. After the miraculous statue was brought down from the altar, the Parish Priest blessed the banner (Maddi), followed by offering of prayers for the eradication of the coronavirus.
Fr Simpliciano later told the media that Menino Jesus with his miraculous power will shower blessings on the people and keep them safe from the Coronavirus.
Unlike the past, no individual kissing of the statue was permitted. The Colva police made elaborate arrangements in and around the Colva Church.
