Fatorda assault: inquiry ordered

Director General of Police Dr Muktesh Chander has ordered a departmental inquiry against two police sub-inspectors for their alleged assault of a local fan at the Fatorda stadium during FC Goa’s last home match in the Indian Super League.

   Chander has appointed Deputy Superintendent of Police Raju Raut Desai as the inquiry officer to probe the role of PSI Dattaprasad Toraskar and PSI Rounak Kadam in the fiasco which has triggered an uproar against the police among football fans.  

Lester D’Souza of Anjuna was badly assaulted by security personnel which included the police during the November 8 match between FC Goa and Delhi Dynamos which the hosts won 4-2. 

His mother Linda D’Souza who was with him was also reportedly manhandled in the incident.
