MARGAO
At long last, the Maina Curtorim police station, which has been functioning from the Margao district police headquarters, is being shifted to its jurisdiction.

The Goa police has set Goa Revolution Day on June 18 as the day to shift the Maina Curtorim police station to the government school at Raia.

The renovation work of the government school at Raia is in full swing, with senior police officers exuding confidence of shifting the police station from the Margao district police headquarters to Raia on June 18.

A senior police officer informed that the Maina Curtorim police station is perhaps the lone police station which has been functioning from a different jurisdiction for want of independent premises.

Though the government had acquired spacious land for the Maina Curtorim police station at Sonsodo, the land has been lying unutilized for over a decade now.

Hopes were raised a couple of months ago that the government might go in for the construction of a spacious building for the Maina Curtoirm police station at Sonsodo, but in vain. In fact, DGP Mukesh Kumar Meena along with senior police officers had visited the Sonsodo land to inspect the area, but the proposal for a spacious building has not taken off till date.

A senior police officer informed that shifting of the Maina Curtorim police station from the district police headquarters will make additional space for the Margao police as well as to implement Supreme Court guidelines on policing.
