Fish trucks get Oct 15 deadline to register with FDA

PANAJI: Health  Minister Vishwajit Rane and Health Secretary Ashok Kumar have given  trucks trading in fish, till October 15 to register with the FDA, after  which no excuses will be tolerated.

Addressing mediapersons along with the team of scientists  from FSSAI and CIFT, Rane said the issue has remained pending till date  as the file, which is currently with the CM, has still not come to him.  Rane had initially given trucks 15 days to register from August 4.  However, traders requested the government for some extra time to comply  with the rule. He later said that there was no harm in giving them  extension, and would give them until 15 days after Chaturthi.
