The inquiry which is being conducted by Swapnil Naik, was suppose to present the report within a month of the incident, which has now been extended by one month. On May 12, agitating fishermen were allegedly attacked by cops with lathis when they were demanding that the government ban the use of LED lights for fishing and take action against the perpetrators. Days after the lathi charge, fishermen demanded that the chief minister who refused to admit to the lathi charge, order a judicial inquiry. Parsekar however agreed to conduct an inquiry by an officer of magisterial rank.
