Fishing vessel crew member succumbs to internal head injuries
A 21-year-old from Jharkhand, who reportedly sustained internal head injuries, while on board a fishing vessel, succumbed at a Margao-based hospital on day one of the new fishing season on Tuesday.

MARGAO: Colva PI Filomena Costa informed that the deceased Amrit Karketa (21) was rushed to the city-based hospital, where he succumbed. "Though the deceased had suffered internal bleeding after a rope came on him on board the vessel, the police are trying to verify the facts. We will call the crew members on board the vessel for an inquiry to ascertain the facts," PI Costa informed. Earlier in the day, Drishti lifeguards assisted the fisherman back to the shore who was bleeding from his mouth while on the boat at sea. The incident occurred at Cavelossim beach in South Goa at approximately 07:45 hours. The 21-year-old fisherman hailing from Jharkhand was on a fishing boat which was located about 500 metres out at sea from Cavelossim. Immediately Drishti lifeguard Sarvesh Goankar set off on a Jet Ski from Mobor beach to reach the spot and secured the victim, bringing him safely back to the shore.
