PANAJI: The meteorologist Dr Kumar also said a weak monsoon year should prompt Goa to focus on water conservation rather than merely hoping for more rainfall.
"We are getting rainfall but we are not harvesting it. Tiles and concrete have replaced open spaces, so water flows straight into the sea instead of recharging groundwater," he said.
"Where are the wells? Probably we have closed them and converted them into rooms," he added with a tinge of sarcasm.
He said Goa's drinking water needs are unlikely to face a serious crisis as it is not a heavily agriculture-dependent State.
