D’Souza was speaking after unveiling the foundation stone for the fish market at Headland Sada in the presence of Power Minister Milind Naik, Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida, Mormugao Municipal Council chairperson Deepak Naik, councillors, GSUDA Member Secretary and Director of Municipal Administration Elvis Gomes, MMC Chief Officer Deepali Naik and Ravindra Bhavan Chairman
Shekar Khadpakar.
“Decentralization is the need of hour and the new fish market at Headland Sada will benefit the residents of the area,” said D’Souza.
The residents will save time on travelling to Vasco to purchase fish, vegetables and other household items, as the complex is multipurpose.
D’Souza further said garbage was more dangerous than terrorism, and it was a collective effort to minimize garbage to achieve Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream of ‘Swacch Bharat’.
“If each one of us take care of our own garbage, it will minimise to a great extent and there will be no mountains of garbage anywhere in
the State.”
Speaking on the Sada garbage treatment plant and the mounting garbage woes, he informed that the work order was already issued to clear the garbage, but it will take time because of the monsoon.
Later commenting on the protesting WSIL workers, D’Souza said no one can stop a private company from closing down and added that agitations were not a solution to any problem.
“We will try and come out with some solution to resolve the salary issue of the workers,” he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Power Minister Naik said the market complex was his dream project which is fulfilled now, and it will save time of the residents to travel to Vasco to buy fish, vegetables and fruits.
Naik complimented GSUDA for helping him to carry out developmental projects in Mormugao constituency and added that all the projects taken up by him will be completed by January next year.
He appealed to the residents of Headland Sada to elect him for the third time to take up more developmental projects and assured he would provide jobs to the unemployed of Sada region.
