Forest Minister Rajendra Arlekar conducted a meeting of the members of Forest Right Committee of Sattari taluka at Valpoi BJP office to hear the grievances of the members.
The committee members brought to the notice of the minister that their cases related to land ownership are pending with the government since 2006 after the wildlife sanctuary came into existence. Arlekar assured to give justice to all the claimants.
Later speaking to the media, Arlekar said as many as 2,459 such cases are pending since long. “Even those who failed to claim or apply with the authority concerned earlier can apply now,” he said.
Arlekar further said he has already directed the Deputy Conservator of Forest to start the procedure of spot verification or panchanama and thereafter undertake the mapping. He said solution to settle all pending cases may take about four to five months.
OBC chairman Satyavijay Naik, vice chairman of Khadi Board Vishwajeet K Rane, Demu Gaonkar, Sakharam Gaonkar and Atul Dantye were present for the press briefing.
Meanwhile, the forest minister informed that if necessary, the forest officials involved in tackling KFD related cases in Valpoi will be provided safety gears as a preventive measure while visiting the forest areas.
