Former AIO James Goes passes awayPANAJI: James Peter Goes (61) former Assistant Information Officer (Exhibition) of the Department of Information & Publicity passed away Friday after a prolonged illness. Born on June 20, 1954, he had opted for voluntary retirement on health grounds in June 2013.

He began his career in the DIP as a Bromide printer on March 13, 1978. James was elevated to the rank of Photographer on May 13, 1985 and then to the rank of Assistant Information Officer (Exhibition) on December 20, 1996.

During his tenure he covered visits of Pope John Paul-II, Mother Tereza, CHOG-M retreat and organized photo exhibitions. He also set up exhibitions at the IITF at Pragati Maidan and during IFFI-Goa. James completed course in Mass Communication at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi.

James also won prizes in the civil service tournaments in carom and badminton. He was felicitated by Ponda Journalists Association and Sanguem-Quepem Patrakar Sangh. He contributed his photographs for the Book 'Raj Bhavan.'

James is survived by his wife Agnela and children Lindsey, Karen and Tyron.

Chain snatching has come back to haunt Margao police once again. A 50-year-old woman from Gogol-Margao was robbed of her mangalsutra by motorcycle-borne miscreants near Babu Naik’s house at Aquem on Thursday noon. Margao police informed that the incident occurred around 3.30 pm when the victim Nita Gaonkar was walking on the road near the house of Babu Naik when the two motorcycle-borne miscreants arrived from the wrong side and snatched her mangalsutra before speeding away…
