tueFormer chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Thursday stated that the Tuem hospital complex was built in record time during his two-year tenure with a purpose that it would be linked to the Goa Medical College (GMC) as a 100-bed hospital.

He also challenged the State government to file a case against him if his claims regarding the hospital complex were false.

Speaking to media persons after joining members of the Tuem Hospital Action Committee during their ongoing protest to demand the linking of the Tuem hospital complex with the GMC, Parsekar claimed that the project was stalled because subsequent MLAs did not take any interest regarding the hospital complex.

Pledging full support to the ongoing protest, Parsekar demanded all facilities to be made available at the Tuem hospital complex.

“All necessary approvals were obtained and all agreements were completed while constructing this hospital. If the Tuem Community Health Centre is moved to the Tuem hospital complex, it will not be a 100-bed hospital,” said Parsekar.

“If my claims that the hospital was built with the intention of being a link hospital to the GMC, or if the government has spent Rs 100 crore without proper justification, then the government should file a case against me,” dared Parsekar, while appealing to people to participate in this movement.

Among those who joined in the protest included ZP member Radhika Uday Palayekar, former Mandrem sarpanchas and sitting Panchas Bala alias Prashant Naik and Amit Sawant, former Tuem sarpanch Nilesh Kandolkar and leaders of different political parties.
